Grief Ceremony Community Gathering With Kamilla Gabriel & Lynn Dao
November 1st, 2026: 10am-1pm. Join us for a safe place to grieve and be held in community.
Description
Your Grief Doesn't have to be Rushed or Carried Alone Why do we isolate at exactly the moment when we most need human connection? Perhaps it’s because our culture today doesn’t really know how to grieve. Our window of grieving is so short before we're expected to return to normal. This gives us little time or permission to allow ourselves to fully grieve. And grief doesn't work that way. Many ancient cultures, however, honored grief as sacred - not as something to overcome or fix. For when we grieve, we are honoring something that has been lost. This ceremony is an intentional space to honor our grief of a loved one, a hope or dream unrealized, a life transition, a relationship, or other life-change, and to be supported in our grief. By giving grief the space it deserves, some of what you’ve been carrying may begin to soften,. What to expect: Group Agreements - To create safety, we agree to consent, choice, and confidentiality, honoring everyone's right to choose how they want to participate. Altar - A place to bring photographs, objects, and symbols that help us honor and remember. Ritual - A stone and water ritual to help us release and renew ourselves Group Share - In pairs or small groups, we create space to share, listen, and be held in community. Embodiment of Support - A guided meditation to help the body and the heart FEEL supported. Facilitators are: Lynn Dao, SOMATIC AND SHAMANIC HEALING, CEREMONIALIST AND GUIDE & Kamilla Gabriel, MSW, LMSW, GRIEF TENDER & CEREMONY FACILITATOR Is this therapy? No, this is not therapy and does not replace the value of therapy for grieving individuals. This is a community ritual for grief. Do I have to share? You do not have to share. There is time and space allowed for anyone who would like to share their grief. What should I bring? If you’d like, you can bring a meaningful item to put on the community grief altar, a journal/pen, and a water bottle to stay hydrated. This ceremony may be for you if you... Want to honor the death of a loved one or a deep loss you have experienced Are grieving something others may not understand Simply know there’s something in you that needs space Feel drawn to ritual or communal healing Are holding grief from the past that’s weighing you down Feel disconnected, numb, heavy, angry or tender Want to be with others who may understand your situation *NOTE: This is a free donation based event.
